Get outta Dodge

Semesters are ending. Finals are hitting. Apartments are going up for rent (if you have an awesome 2-bedroom you’re looking to unload, or just know one, leave me a comment, or give a call. Please. PLEASE.). Things are coming to a close.

BUT.

We’re just getting started here at The Distance. Just bacause your schooling is over (or, hey, if you’re not one of those damn intellectual academic types and you have an actual job and contribute to society unlike the rest of you leeches thankyouverymuch), that doesn’t mean the beats stop here at KRTU.

Nosir. Nosir indeed. The beat goes on.

Yeah, I just made a Sonny & Cher reference. Deal with it.

Sorry if you hate post-punk…

I’m reading a book right now called Rip it Up and Start Again by Simon Reynolds. It’s about the history if Post-Punk, the incredibly firtle yet oft-overlooked period from ‘78 to ‘84, as the author defines it. Bands like Pere Ubu, Mission of Burma, Devo, Joy Division, The Fall, Human League, and countless others created incredible music that in many ways defined modern independent rock. Needless to say, I’m obsessed with the book and the music. So you might hear a bunch of such tunes tonight.

Never fear, though.. .you can expect the same poppy wonder that you come to KRTU for, intespersed with cerebral avant-garde sonic wonderment.

Or, you know, rock music. Whatever.
